Happy International Coffee Day, my fellow caffeine-dependent friends!

Though the origin of this day is unknown, we can all guess that coffee retailers had a lot to do with it.  7-Eleven and Dunkin’ Donuts are offering free coffee today, although apparently Starbucks is not, according to the huge number of  irate Starbucks patrons who’ve taken their outrage to Facebook.

These days my coffee ritual starts at home with my personal barista (Chris) handing me my first latte of the morning.  This is my favorite time of the day as Chris and I drink our lattes and talk about the events of the day ahead.  It’s our special  time together! 

Once I get to work, I usually head down to the Starbucks on campus with my friend, Jackie, for a mocha or a PSL, now that it’s back in season (yeeeeaaaayyyy!). While walking over to get our coffees, we chat and gossip about people.  It’s our time together! 

Then, on weekends, I often get together with my “girls”  at a coffeehouse and just enjoy each other’s company, over  cups of coffee (and morning pastries).  We share the goofy things our husbands have done, catch up on what we’ve all been doing, gossip about celebrities, and just laugh. It’s our time together!

For me, “having coffee” means more than drinking coffee.  It is also about who I’m are drinking it with and cherishing our time together.

This post is dedicated to my friend, Amy, and our coffee hours – 10 am and 3 pm.  I miss our time together!!
